Core NAP, the most flexible data center solutions provider in Central Texas, today announced its successful completion of a Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70 Type I audit. Completing this comprehensive auditing process – performed by a nationally recognized independent auditing firm – demonstrates Core NAP’s commitment to safeguarding its customers’ sensitive data by meeting the strictest industry standard. Included in the scope of the audit were Core NAP’s network monitoring, problem escalation and support services.
The widely recognized SAS 70 standard was developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) as a component of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. SAS 70 certifies that a service organization has had its control objectives and activities examined by an independent accounting and auditing firm. Service providers such as Core NAP must demonstrate that they have adequate safeguards in place when they host or process data belonging to their customers. In order to complete the audit, Core NAP management developed control objectives for the significant areas of internal control that support the data center operations.
“Achieving SAS 70 compliance demonstrates our commitment to protecting our customers’ sensitive data,” said Kenneth Smith, president and CEO of Core NAP. “We requested this audit to ensure that our processes and controls meet strict government standards, and we’re proud of this accomplishment. Ongoing SAS 70 auditing will assure our current and future customers that we are serious about constantly reassessing and improving our security and compliance best practices.”
